Want to know the trick behind soft, natural, radiant looking skin? Yes please! Meet make-up's new minimal — mineral.
What is mineral make-up?
Mineral make-up is make-up that's actually good for you skin. Yep, that wasn't your lashes getting in the way — you read right! It is made up of natural, minerals from the earth, giving skin nasties like oils and preservatives the flick!
What are the benefits of mineral make-up?
Ever had that icky, plastered feel from foundation? Conventional cosmetics, such as liquid foundation and powder can have harmful ingredients. They can include alpha hydroxy (designed to remove the outer layer of your skin in an attempt to freshen your complexion — eeek!) and talcum (which can clog your pores and leave your face feeling sensitive and itchy).
Mineral make-up's organic ingredients will leave your skin looking flawless, glowing and feeling like you're au naturel! And because of its gentle properties, mineral make-up is perfect for sensitive, oily or problem skin. Hallelujah!
Our top tips for a flauntable face
Mineral powder foundation: For a fresh barely-there look, we love Vani-T's Mineral Powder Foundation, which is the perfect coverage for a flawless complexion.
How to: Start with a light application of liquid illuminator — it will give your skin that dewy glow! For a perfect application, swirl a kabuki brush (designed especially for mineral make-up) into the powder foundation. Apply in light, downward strokes, buffing the powder into your skin with circular motions, blending your cheeks, chin, forehead and nose. Gradually build for coverage.
Mineral eye shadow: To add a little shimmer to your peepers, try Vani-T's Mineral Colour Crystals.
How to: Start by applying the darkest shade of your chosen colour to the crease of your eyelid. Then, apply the boldest colour to your lid, blending into both corners. Finally, apply a lighter shade to your upper eyelid, blending all three colours with a small eye shadow brush.
Mineral blush: For a natural-looking set of rosy cheeks, try Maybelline New York Mineral Power Blush.
How to: To contour your cheeks, begin by swirling a large kabuki brush into the powder. Lightly sweep your cheeks, focusing on the apples and blending to the upper cheek.
